The Sarcophagus

“What is that?” Em cried a shaky finger towards the sarcophagus. She was trembling.

“It’s a sarcophagus.” Rowena supplied. “You see in ancie…”

“I know that Row.” Em snapped. “What is that doing in our school? We should get out of here right now, it might be cursed.

Row laughed. “You’ve been reading too much Goosebumps, Em. It doesn’t even look real, much less be cursed.”

Em tilted her head as if to get a better look at the tiny sarcophagus. After a while, she slowly shook her head. “Real or not, You have to admit it is creepy as heck.”

The more Row looked at it, the more it freaked her out. It felt like it would come alive any second and make her the first victim of world destruction like in the movie she’d seen. Shaking off the horrified expression on her face, she nodded grimly.

Glancing at each other, they broke out in a run. They stopped after a non-dangerous distance panting and trembling.

“We are never going ‘exploring’ in creepy classrooms ever again.” Row declared. Em nodded enthusiastically and they made their way out.

Inside, the sarcophagus glowed eerily for a second before turning normal again.
